Depends. I'm Dutch so I don't tip, ever. And with that I mean, ever. I don't tip in restaurants, I don't tip in bars unless they really really really made an effort (haven't given a tip in about 5 years). It's not a normal thing to do here. I don't have a tattoo but I wouldn't tip a tattoo artist. If he/she says the price, I'll pay that amount of money. For me it's just a business deal. The artist makes the art and I pay the artist for it. Might be cultural thing though.

Hummm... the reason I asked is because my artist said that it's a cultural thing to tip in America and in the UK, he is British but works in Hong Kong. He was just saying that his clients never tip him which is a cultural thing he has come to accept... that was after I gave him tip so he wasn't asking or anything...
With the new piece I am getting in a couple of weeks, by a totally different person, there is no way I can give 10% but if it's a cultural thing and since ill be spending potentially a grand on this piece, whats another 20 quids? But don't want to seem odd or anything...
Question time, do you guys tip your tattoo artists? I gave mine about £20, which was just over 10%, but it was overseas... and he was a 1 man shop...
if you tip, how much is the 'goign rate'? And do you give it to the shop or the artist that you pay you bill to the shop...
