At least three riders in the Newbury 12hr were. Yours truly and the Mark Holton being two of them..

You could get a skinsuit and a set of Aerojackets.

A bottle behind the saddle is aero neutral really.
That Selle Italia saddle is silly. No way that back end has an effect, and the shape seems all wrong for extension riding. They are on clearance everywhere. Probs for this reason.
The Sitero seems well thought out. Mental angle on the bottle though.
I have a Fizik Tritone on order. I was thinking of using the bottle holder attachment to hold the shit my tri-leotard wont. So a Wind jacket stuffed in one bottle With a multitool, and water in the other. With a pump Mount on each. One holding micro pump, and one a latex canister. Hopefully between the bottles.

This is true with or without a skinsuit on so doesn't mean much.

Only two? For shame...

My ENVE ses Extensions arrived.
They are pretty fecking sexy.
Look like they should set up perfectly With my bars as they are. Just shifters for them and I'm ready to go.

I have 2 aero bottles on the bike. One of which actually aids Aeros. The Down tube one I think.

You know that?

What I meant, is that there is the potential for greater gains from a skinsuit, than a disc.
-
• #661
Defs skinsuit. If you can stretch to a a Castelli Body Paint 3 they're super quick. No Pinz worth looking at too.

Which is what makes me think it is positioned like that for aerodynamics, rather than ergonomics.
The thinking behind the Tritone looks to be the opposite: ie the bottles are positioned to be easy to grab in a tuck, rather than act as a tail.

They don't work with a fixed hub apparently...
Looks like skinsuit it is. If only I could just wear my bloody slvlss-suit.
-
• #664
The sitero probably uses that angle to help the slvlss get on their bikes in transition....
that's why I have my bottle in that position anyway, it is possible to get too on the move though, but I do have to come out of an aero position, but then I don't really have it there for most races as I don't need two bottles , and shove a tool bottle in there instead...

Massive generalisation on the behind saddle bottle thing. But AFAIK its true most of the time.
Agree about the placements though. A single bottle behind the sitero With the extra pump Mount thingie (would work well for pump + latex I thought) seems like a cleaner solution.
My arse is big. But its not going to shadow those bottles on the Tritone.
I'm mainly looking at a neat tri set-up that will be aero, and allow me to carry a few extra bits for endrurance stuff. The disc cover was for the odd TT. Where I wont need extra water.

I know what you meant. I'm being a dick... aka me.
-
• #667
No, it's aero. The closer you can get the bottle to your arse the better and the more angled, even horizontal the better. There's stuff out there on the tests but I don't have time to find.
-
• #668
The bottles might not be showing frontal area, covered by your arse but they still disturb the airflow coming off your back. Drag.

an electromagnet that acts like a rail gun, sort of timed to help rotate the wheel.
^This. I thought it would be impossible to detect and might be pretty good at high speeds. it could be even set up to recharge with induction when not pushing.
If an induction charger could be felt when pedalling, the opposite should work with you, especially on both wheels -

Good point, but it also seems to be the logical position if you are looking at airflow off the back.
Although Cervelo tested the bottles mounted vertically and reduced drag.

Oh, fixed. Why don't they work? Forgetting the cog attachment vs. freewheel attachment, the wheel fixed/free is essentially the same. Hmm.. unless they don't do dishless covers, maybe that's why.
-
• #672
I'd imagine you'd get a weird pulsing effect, which would do very odd things to your pedal stroke... you'd probably have a moment that felt like spinning out every time the magnet passed by. I reckon that would be more tiring than any gain you'd get from pushing the magnet. And you'd need a far bigger magnet on there than normal to get any real gain anyway, which would unbalance your wheel, and and and
-
• #673
Yeah, fair enough, ideally you'd need two magnets per wheel and very high speeds... Not gonna happen
Just thought would be a bullet proof way to hide a little external help

On a longer TT you could fake a puncture and have the 'guilty' Wheel switched out, or in. Whichever was best to avoid detection.
The best way to cheat without any danger of detection is to ride TTs in the UK under CTT regulations :-)

It has the effect of making the total length of the saddle comply with UCI regulations.
skinsuit will give FAR bigger gains than real wheel (unless its a terrible, loose fit)
