  • Yours is the bent RS80, right?

Any kind of bend in an RS80 rim means it's dead. The carbon might be delaminated from the aluminium base, so it could explode and kill thousands of innocent bystanders at any moment. As stated, RS80 rims are actually more expensive than complete wheels due to the different discount structures, so a dead rim is a dead wheel.

  • :( the mechanic said at the shop for them to rebuild the wheel it will cost around £100, £50 labour and £50 for parts etc.... Would that sort the wheel out? Or the aforementioned bend of doom on RS81s are just unfixable.

Which mechanic? Either he doesn't know what he's looking at, or he has a source of Shimano carbon laminate rims at £50. Either way, we need his name, to avoid him at all costs or to get him to hook up all the people with busted RS80/RS81/7450/9000 carbon laminate wheels who have hitherto been shuddering at the thought of paying £150+ for a rim.

Apparently, Cole C24 is a drop-in replacement for the Shimano C24 rim if you just want to get your wheel up and running for cheap at the expense of a bit more weight and a bit less rigidity.
