Yes, the suspense was hard to bear. The camera-phone technology didn't help. I hope the road race will have clearer pictures.

So that's Cambridge's own Hayley Simmonds first of the women and Cambridge's own Edmund Bradbury second of the men.
I like to think that, in some small way, me finishing miles behind them at club TTs has helped spur them on to success.

I think it's fair to claim some of the glory

Me too. Which is why I am currently wearing a white t shirt with hand-coloured red white n blue stripes.
Just that. No trousers or pants.

I respect Cavendish for riding the national road race champs today but I don't think he's got a prayer with no teammates. He won't be allowed to get in any sort of move and it almost certainly won't finish in a sprint.
He's in the front group but sounds like that was just an early selection caused by a bit of a difference in class between the World Tour riders and most of the rest.

Yay Lizzie

Lizzie Cavendish has always been my favourite.

Looks like it's not going to happen for the Yates brothers today
-
• #3835
He won it two years ago in a similar situation.
-
• #3836
Blimey, two off the front and 50 miles to go.

Had Andy Fenn that day and it came down to a sprint I think.
Seems like he's doing quite well but nobody is going to want him there at the end.

• #3838
Exactly. The idea that Cav can only win with a team is stupid - he's perfectly capable of looking after himself. Race craft coming out his ears.
Go on Cav.

• #3839
Come on Rowe. Do some fucking work.
-
• #3840
BC don't pay his wages.

-
• #3842
Why would Rowe do any work when he's got two teammates up the road?
-
• #3843
Because its an individual title, not a team one.
-
• #3844
I can't think of any big races where he's won without a leadout personally.
Best sprinter of his generation and he's riding himself into the ground today but he's not really got a record of picking up wins without a team backing him.
-
• #3845
So is every bike race. Do you think Sky came into today with no plan and said 'just go for it lads - may the best man win'?
Stannard and Kennaugh would be livid if Rowe pulled Cavendisj across.
-
• #3846
What about all the stages he won while he was at sky with a non existent leadout train? Or the last national championship he won? Or Milan San Remo? He's won plenty on the track on his own too. Do you even follow racing?
-
• #3847
Cannot believe he's just pulled stannard and dreamy Pete back in single handedly. What an effort.
-
• #3848
Is there coverage? Chrome won't let me open the link on steephill.
