  • i'd love to replace my work bike with a oldschool MTB frame, the problem is i know fuck all about them so i dunno what to look for

  • Start with 3 triangles and go from there, or a Kona.

    This looks unreal

  • Search for old Spec, GT, Marin, Orange or Saracen (Saracen made good bikes once) on the bay. I turned up an old Univega for not much on RetroBike for a budget MTB/child carrying bike. Worth checking there as well.

  • No probs, trawl through (German, less expensive) ebay for "retro mtb" and google the ones you think look cool. Also check retrobike. I knew fuck all about mtbs six weeks ago, had one in the 90s but that's it. Still managed to scrape together parts for a build with not much trouble. Sizing was the hardest bit to get my head round, being an anal roadie mamil and used to agonising over 5 mm here and there (all euphs obvs) it's nice to have someone tell you it's not a big deal and just get this or that frame size in inches.
