Wouldn't friction thumb shifters be difficult to control: hard to move the shifter just enough/not too far with one digit?
What about mounting the DTS on the stem, assuming the problem is that she doesn't like the reach to them on the DT?
I'll have a rummage: pretty sure I have a mount you can have.
My gf has a nice woodrup with a mix match of campag, running 6 speed friction with some nice campag DT shifters, and a slightly more modern 8 speed campag rear mech.
She doesn't really feel confident with the DT shifters, and due to the 6 speed setup, I thought easiest would be some thumb shifters.
Any recommendations for cheap but reliable thumbies? As mentioned, would only need to be set up as friction.
