I will say this: 964's are fast becoming difficult to find at a decent price - the coupe particularly.

Had an H reg Mini Cooper back in 2001. It was a wonderful fun to drive, when it worked. Was a total money pit though, and back then i didn't have money to keep it in good order. ended up garaging it at my folks when i went to Uni, and forgetting about it. When I got round to getting it out again three years later, damp had got the worse of it and destroyed the interior, and finished off the sills. Never drove it again. I think my Mini days are behind me.
The more I think about it, the more I like the thought of an MG BGT. Do like that blue one, looks like it would be great fun.... but think maybe something thats more original might be a better investment.
like this one:

no probs - drop me a line.
i don't think i'd look at a b as an investment. there's too many of them. i like the look of that ,blue one as a track car. that one you have linked to is nice, but expensive.

Not really looking to make money on it, just not lose (much) money!

Would also dig a Mk1 Escort, but god damn they are expensive. I knew they demanded a price these days, but no as much as the good ones are going for!
Would love this for summer weekends:

Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9, get a nice one for about 4k, an absolute blast, beautiful and on the right side of practical. Also holding value/appreciating.

I agree with @Crispin_Glover. However the 1.9 always seemed a bit too much.
Alternatively, what about one of the Series 1 Williams Clio's?
