  • Recovery is important

  • Probably the best thread to ask this. Possibly racing sprint at the derny champs in July, would be a first time at Herne Hill. Have a set of mavics with pista evo cl fitted, would it be mad to ride these? Other option is just keep the training wheels on for the day.

  • A couple of people ride Evo CLs at track league but I think they're pushing their luck to be honest. The track itself is fine but the warm up track and safety zone can be gritty.

  • Cool, probably not worth the risk then. At the keirin 2014 my pal had his front tyre blow full pelt down at HH, took a right chunk of carbon out of his 5 spoke!

  • I recently got my red card and I'm thinking of coming to league for the first time tonight.

Re: Madison night - I've not practiced enough madison to ride it as a race. Is there still a full programme of other races on nights with a special event? How many races do the non-specials usually get?

  • IIRC just one of the A cat races gets sacrificed for the madison, if you're riding for the first time then you'll be in the Cs and you should still get the usual number of races.

  • I the Madison night I went to had a combined c&b scratch to make room. Still got 4 races as usual as a c cat.

  • Results up within two hours of TL finishing tonight Dan. If you'd like to drive me home, make me dinner and mix me a drink, then maybe I can get it down to under an hour...

  • Nice work on the 'rationalisation' of the points too.

    Makes much more sense.

I don't think you want @dan mixing you a drink though, last night he was on a cocktail of Coopers, Stongbow and Kettle chips.

  • Yeah, played around with a few ways of doing it...and this seemed best.

  • Oh and quality beery heckling from the stands by @youramericanlover (I think) and another last night.

  • Correct! Myself and @lucyh came to see some racing, was great night for it, though just watching Madison makes me nervous.

  • Mid season special tomorrow. Reverse win-and-out, Kierin, Marymoor crawl and stupidly long points race. It's going to hurt.

  • I thought that was on the 1st July?

  • So it is... bummer. I was ready for Kierin.

    Carry on...

  • Sorry - missed this.

As appealing as your proposal sounds, I think perhaps I'll just pipe down and stop being such a gobshite. How does that sound? ;)

  • Could be the first outing for your new POWER WHEELS OF BLING

    maybe

  • That will be sprint league this Saturday I hope...

  • Might do sprint league as well actually. A few sprint efforts will do me good.

If only I had some new wheels to try out......

  • Ooh sprint friend!

  • How are you feeling this morning @dan? Not too bad I hope.

Reminded me a bit of this...only in the space of about 3 seconds and at 30mph.

Just coincidence that there's a bloke with a wispy beard in the background for both mechanical failures?!

  • That's pretty much what I saw before I kicked him in the head on my way down to the grass

    Spectalularly scary if nothing else.

@damon is still grumbling about loosing his break too :)

  • Oh and if your number is 246, I have it as you left it in the track centre last night. I will bring it along next week and leave it with George at sign on.
You're also down as TBC on the results sheet......

Edit - its a Temp number, I'll give it to George next week

  • I'm OK. Pretty sore and my road rash is quite bad. Turns out I hit my shoulder and both hips pretty hard too. Sleep last night was pretty much non-existent.
Still, feel like I got off reasonably lightly.

  • You did bounce very hard, a lot of times.
