^^ yeah but think of all the wonderful work she does for the tourist industry! you wouldn't catch the disabled doing that.
-
• #35554
We could use the disabled to decorate the Palace maybe? Holding curtains, decoratively applied to walls, holding vases etc- that'd be 150m worth of wages then.

string a couple of those wheelchairs together - crip drawn carriages! for state events, going down the shops etc.

The worst bit* is that she insists on moving out when they get the builders in.
I'm currently living in a one bedroom flat, 50% of which is a building site, and has been since the end of March. We have no bathroom, no kitchen and a chemical loo.
I think if I can manage she can easily cope in somewhere that big.
*Obviously, the worst bit is actually that we're being asked to foot the bill. As Cameron and co. love privatising things so much, why don't they sell Buckingham Palace to a theme park operator like Merlin with the queen as a sitting tenant? Then the private sector can pay the renovation costs.

I still think that they should relocate parliament to Hull whilst the Houses of Parliament are titivated.
-
• #35563
I hate the government at least as much as the next guy, but Hull? That's really harsh.

I'm guessing it felt nice at the time but could turn out to be a bit pricey.
so the british tax payer is getting doubly shafted on property rerfurbishments this month
first the announcement of £6bn + for tarting up the houses of parliament
now we are informed we will be re decorating the queens house
at the modest sum of £150mn ...... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33250274
i wonder if i could get the great british public to help fund the gold lamais wall paper and jet black ceramic tiles with sparkles i'm planning for my bedroom
