Play Arkham City but ignore Origins, it's pretty bluergh with the exception of a few boss fights like Deathstroke's...

So it looks like the PC version of Batman is a terrible port... this is becoming more and more common. I do find it weird, given that the games are all developed on PC to start with!

The week after I buy a PS4...
Ah well. I only got it for GTA anyway.

Thankfully MGS5 & GTAV didn't follow the trend! But it does seem to be annoyingly common.

I've been reading that as well, relieved I didn't get suckered into buying it.

Life is Strange is seriously gripping.

Without resorting to bootcamp are there are games natively playable in OS X you'd recommend? Asking for a friend...

In other news I semi-regret not buying the witcher 3 when it was in the marginal steam sale. Not paying 50 quid for a title but really keen to lose myself in a game for a while - though probably best for work that I don't.

Any Telltale games? if you like that sort of thing.

Portal 1 & 2 are on OS X and have very modest requirements.

Very impressed with Alienware 13.
Great size, thickness is similar to the old MacBook Pro 13, ditto to weight.
Amazing keyboard, made my old MacBook Pro feel clunky in comparison.
Playing Far Cry 4 in max setting (inc. 60fps), 2 hours later it only gotten slightly warm, and surprisingly quiet despite the huge vent on the underside.
Only let down is the screen isn't as nice as the MacBook, but that's about it.

Never really appealed but thanks anyway. I like the source material usually but haven't yet come to terms with the idea of game/story/graphic novel type things.

Ta, never played 2, might give it a whirl. I have 1 and rushed through it a couple of years ago - a good puzzler but kind of after more thought I can't be specific about what...
Currently the SteamPlay section of my library only has a few obvious franchises I can install on this laptop: various assassin's creed titles, CoD, Bioshocks, GTAs, Total Wars, Hitman series, Civilization etc. Nothing really leaps out.
I installed Left for Dead 2 which I'm having fun with. Also installing Mount and Blade for a quick revisit. I guess I'm just buying time until I get a new machine and can play Witcher 3 and sign away my life and my business.

Glad you're enjoying it - the keyboard incidentally looks very similar to my Clevo. Also has the same screen and a very similar build out (albeit the alienware has newer components) based on this review:

I lean heavily on indies as I went from a decrepit old 2008 macbook to a tiny little macbook Air, so I can't run much that's new or large scale. It helps that I really enjoy roguelike games, as there are a lot of excellent examples of the genre available right now. Two off the top of my head are Rogue Legacy which is a more traditional dungeon-diving roguelike but in platform style, and Don't Starve which is an unusual (but very, very good) type.
Telltale Games did a new Monkey Island game if you have any fond memories of the originals, it's definitely not of the graphic novel type. Hotline Miami is also good in a retro kind of way. There's also DOTA (which I haven't played) - one of my mates keeps hassling me to play because he says it's ace. He also keeps hassling me to play FTL which gets very good reviews.
Borderlands is fucking excellent if you don't already have that. You can also run TF2 if you haven't got that either.

That remind me of Tales From The Borderlands episode, the 3rd one was just released last night.

Could I tempt anyone here to a modest gaming PC for £450 before I pop it on eBay?

Thanks all, appreciated. Think I'll give Borderlands a spin based on the fairly universal love. And maybe DOTA and Diablo 3 as I keep hearing about them.

loving the star craft 2 at the moment. even if the story is utter pants. it really is laughable codswallop. 'human/alien/god betty gets the hump with horrid space general because he merked her boyfriend and proceeds to wipe out entire galaxy, except HE REALLY DIDN'T, LOL!' the end.
D3 patch coming soon to a PTR near you. looks good, blizzard certainly don't hold back when it comes to releasing FREE new content and keeping OG's interdasted. not many game companies do that.
PC Batman's £21 until 5pm Friday at GMG using the 40% off code (has to be entered during checkout) BETHEB-ATMANG-MG40PC
Despite that I'm still on the fence, mostly cos I've got too much else on my plate. Still trying to get into Witcher 3 (with little success so far), the endless grind of Elite, and track time with Assetto Corsa and Project Cars.
