CP: The Topcross (Low trail CX + touring)

I have built it like this for several reasons.

1. I built it while having 2.1" tyres on it.

2. I have made a similar rack for a friend and his mudguards hit the rack when road is rough.

3. I have no idea... Good point, my next one will be a bit lower ;-)

Dropped it off at the powder coater this morning. Boring black.

Thank you. Frame should be done by now. Been too busy to pick it up. I will get it this week and hopefully find time to get some decals cut and get the bicycle back together.

Finally had time to go to the painters and pick up my frame. Pretty satisfied with the job. Decals will be sorted tomorrow.

Too often I enter it the wrong way when riding in a new country.

Almost finished rebuilding last night, then realised that pedal threading on ds crank arm has become loose. F***ing carbon. So I am now ordering 130 bcd narrow wide ring to fit my Rotor 3Ds instead. In the end this is probably better anyway, as I can then use Tiagra BBs, which is much cheaper than FSA Mega Evo bsa30 BBs, and for cyclocross especially that is probably a good thing. Feel lame to bin a 200gbp crankset though... FSA = Falder Snart Af (danish for: "Soon To Fall Off").

It is going well in the decals department. A cutting plotter has been used and the foil is some random light grey foil I could have for free. Will see how it holds up in bad weather and during cx season. If it doesn't last, I might get some better decals made professionally. Maybe the font should be smaller next time around. What do you think?

I have sold my my specialized fat boy tyres so these (Schwalbe Road Cruiser 47c) will have to do until I get some money and figure out what tyres I want. Gumwalls would look smashing I reckon. Also I am going to change the bar tape for some white cork.

Hmmm. That might be an option. I wish I had the energy/knowledge to fix it myself. It isn't the first time it happens.

Edit: You should be able to remove the insert, clean it, reglue it and be happy. But there must be some kind of design flaw to this, as I have seen this on FSA cranks before. Give me CNC aluminum pls!

Maybe a touch smaller next time but not much. It looks fantastic! White tape will look nice with the decals.

I want to get something smaller and more precise, but I need a better cutting plotter for that.

If you are wondering, Gundersen is my best friend, who I build bikes with. We are not really a brand, I just like tinkering with making it look pro.

I like the touch using both S and DT. A tad smaller like you said and it's all good.

What weight did you end up at?

Thanks. In what setup? Like pictured above it is 11.7 kg.
I could do a lot to make it lighter, but I have too many bikes to keep afloat, so money is thinly spread on all ;-)
My cx setup this winter was under 9 kg.
