Thanks. That is certainly a top fact. Pretty cool.

I fundamentally disagree with painting NJS frames
-
• #29
hence why i won't do it (just clarifying)

Great frame. However you build it up i am sure it will be a great bike.
Btw, i remember you were asking about an arabesque Shimano headset. I found one here:
it is a bit pricey though.

• #31
Ha, yes they do look very cool. Though yes, bit pricey.

re: crankset. Don't rush the building, rather save some money and buy the parts you really want.
-
• #33
Yeah. Though I fear that ill have to make some compromises if I want to ride it at some point.

Thought I'd photobomb with one of my mate's bikes from Tokyo. The nicest Kalavinka I've seen for a while (I think he may have actually picked it up through the Kalavinka store in Meguro (West Tokyo)...

W.T.F!!! This is getting resprayed?!
*unsubs*

I am NOT respraying it. It was merely a thought that crossed my mind, one i delved into far too much due to how shit bored i was.

This came in the post, what could it be:
So it arrived, yay. I was so excited, like christmas when youre five. Will probably edit in some better pictures in later when its sunny.
Have to say that NJS Export's ability to pack is pretty epic. The frame was relatively easy to access but the other bits genuinely took me while to get at. The amount of cello tape used was brutal. As a bonus I also got a whole load of Japanese Newspaper articles.Pleasantly surprised at the appearance of some metal flake going on where the white is giving it even moar njs madness.
Stem and tugs also arrived.

Do you know, you are the second only person in the UK to have Kalavinka frame.
-
• #41
Are you sure? How do you know?
Apologies for the interrogation, just seems very unlikely. Would be cool if true though.

whens it going to the painters
-
• #43
Thought id do it myself.
Just taken it to the garage, sanded it down and rattle canned my first layer of black. -

hmm, not sure about this. Saw at least 2 different kalavinkas during my visits at tokyo fixed couple of years ago, one of the people working at condor has told me he has a Kalavinka, haven't seen it yet though.
Still.. Awesome frame that is! Liking the black and white theme. Too much decals though, reminds me of most makino frames.
Oh, and please, don't respray it... It's perfect as it is!

not sure about this
What I thought.
Too much decals though, reminds me of most makino frames
Yeah, I usually don't like frames with loads of decals but they're in Japanese so my feelings towards that are negated.
Oh, and please, don't respray it... It's perfect as it is!
Sadly too late. Sitting in the garage drying. Accidently sprayed over the headbadge annoyingly, thought I might just paint the word kalavinka back on.

Beautiful frame! I'm sure the final build will look perfect.
Just one question, is the Concorde really really small or this is going to be too big?
-
• #47
Ok, Hhc is the fourth only person. (those people at condor will tell you anything to make a conversation)

Beautiful frame!
Thanks.
Just one question, is the Concorde really really small or this is going to be too big?
That question has been in my head for a long time and has been waiting for an answer for an equally long amount of time. Really dislike coming to terms with it but the Concorde is definitely verging on the too small size.
Bare in mind that when I bought the Concorde I was much shorter. I'm pretty young, relatively flexible and overly optimistic so I hope to get some riding on the Concorde done.
It will almost certainly be too small but will also get use for quite a while (I hope). The recent change in plan regarding that build is in light of this realisation.
I'm still very reluctant to let it go though as it is one my favourite frames; I've always wanted a nice lo pro and a kalavinka in my stable.
