More details? Also how wide is it across for 4 bikes like that? Across the handlebars I guess. I'm wondering if I can get 4 next to the chimney breast. (Enabling that purchase I have my eye on... )

1.4 metres across handlebars , as is could get them a little closer , hanging rail is 1.2 meters
B&q for the rail & hooks -

With vertical offset I reckon you could fit another 2 bikes in there.

I've got a similar set up but individual hooks which staggered higher-lower-higher for marginal space saving horizontally..

I was looking at the wilko ones a while ago. Look similar to the bnq ones.

So, say you have a parking space (in a private locked garage) , next to two support pillars, but you're not allowed to drill into the floor, or the pillars, what do you use to lock 2 bikes up.
I was thinking bike shed + big chain to stick it to the pillar/ act as locking anchor. -

If it's a private locked garage, why the shed? If they've got in to the garage, the shed won't bother them. I suppose if it's one of those non description metal numbers it would just look like a maintenance locker or something. Although that may look like it has expensive tools in it so would be even more attractive. I would be inclined to put a chain and a cable around the pillars (potentially needing different cutting/breaking tools) and lock to those.

or buy a van with no mot or tax and park it in your space. hey presto - secure garage!

Because I like neatness and order- seriously- thats the reason, there are no bike racks in the garage, and though its secure, I still want my bikes stored properly- even though it will just be my beater and the gf's beater.
I like having ease of access, etc. -

Hi guys, I've moved into a new student house and I need some bike storage ideas. I've got 2-3 bikes and currently have them leaning up against the wall together. This takes up about 80cmx180cm but it's a bit of a pain as I have to move bikes out of the way to get to the other ones. Also I'd like to have a little more floor space. Ideally I'd get them mounted on the wall but I can't drill the wall or the floor.
I was looking at free standing racks like the one below but I don't know how stable the cheaper ones are (Ideally budget of up to ~£50)
Anyone got any other cheaper solutions?
Another option I thought about would be to use something like Clugs but screw them into a wooden frame that's freestanding. I would either have to build myself like the one a few pages back or maybe hack from the remnants of a solid cupboard/wardrobe?

Dunno if the parts are still available, but there are designs floating around for a bike rack using bits from IKEA ... It uses a vertical pole between floor and ceiling, and I think it just uses pressure rather than having to be screwed into place.

Pride of place relegated to the back of the house.
A pedal hook was forbidden and a Clug didn't work out to be what I needed so I bought a single wheel hook from Evans in the end.
Incidentally, if anyone wants a white and black Clug for £6, PM me.

I have had Dammit's two tier IKEA hack bike stand that I have used for about 5 years successfully. It won't be needed in my new place so with his blessing, I am offering it on for further long term loan (it still belongs to Dammit).
Available for collection in Camberwell.
Works really with with no need to screw into ceiling or floor.

Could definitely be interested either in a loan if Dammit's keen, or pics so I can bodge my own.

@tommmmmmm Swap u a clug for a Brompton loan?
@stevo_com Got a pic or link?
Put the hook up and hang the bike up, if it doesn't come out it's strong enough. :)
Happy to help.
