  • Giant stepping up with alloy version of aero Propel SLR1. One piece top tube and head tube is clever

  • That cable routing.

  • Slim chance of seeing that in the uk

  • It's fucking May ffs.

  • ;)

  • No doubt a great bike, wonder if it will sell though? The TCR SL1 didn't really fly off the shelves...

Genesis Volare with much improved graphics:

  • Bah, I couldn't make it three consecutive years :-(

  • And tapered headtube

  • One piece top tube and head tube is clever

So that means it will disintegrate at the down tube then?

  • Merida have a alu Version of their aero road bike now too.

    Both look loads of fun.

  • And standard brake too, less flaffing about which is nice.

  • Has anyone seen pics of the CAAD12 yet? Or have they already been posted?

  • Hi all I am looking for a new racing bike. Requirements are as follows:

    • full Carbon fiber
    • budget around £2k
    • all black / matte black preferred
    • ultegra groupset at least
    • reputable manufacturer
    • super light as possible
    • open to disc brakes or not

Willing to spend some money for the right bike - any suggestions?

  • racing bike

So much bike for the money: https://www.canyon.com/en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3585

OR Ultimate AL SLX frameset and build with 6800 and some chinese carbon wheels .. that will leave you with lots of leftover £££

  • thanks - isn't the Canyon brand similar to something like Planet X - not necessarily one of the top tiers? Top tier would be like Cannondale/BMC/etc? I'd like something that has a wow factor to it..

  • Movistar & Katusha ride Canyons

  • When will Kinesis get on and release a disc version of the 4S?

  • ^ i know, it was on my wishlist but i've given up waiting

  • The frameset alone on top tier wow factor bikes is more than the amount you quoted. Canyon are not sexy but they are German and amey is right, it's the best way to get a good carbon bike with a premium groupset for the money you mentioned.

The De Rosa R838 is probably perfect for you. It says 'De Rosa' on it, but since it's made in a mould in a Taiwanese factory it is in budget. It's exactly the same frame as the Ribble Stealth, made from the same mould, but you won't mind paying the extra few hundred quid for that 'top tier' name. You can have 105 for £1800, or Ultegra for £2299, or wait for the sales.

  • Or you could always get a Btwin.

  • Can't tell if you were dissing the DeRosa but I recently bought a R838 and I absolutely love it. But I bought it from my LBS with a discount and upgraded wheels for less than the RRP so it was a win win for me, I got to support my good friend and local shop and I love the brand as a whole. Though I would heartily agree that on a budget Canyon (Or the DeRibble) is the absolute best choice.

  • I can wait, for a while anyway. No one else seems to do a frame in my size (64cm or thereabouts) that'll take guards, a rack, have the right geo and take discs. Currently got a Ribble Audax that does just fine for commuting, day rides and touring but I can't/won't upgrade knowing that discs are (hopefully) just around the corner.

  • De Rosa R838
Thanks - pretty good recommendation - much appreciated. any other matte black bikes I should be considering?

  • Or you could always get a Btwin.
