Will have a think about pedals and crank length, probably 165s and Speedplays for cornering

Looks serious! 165s for sure, I'd like to use my Orlowski frame for the same reason as it's got a nice high BB but would be pretty heart-broken if I wrote it off.
You running the track drops too?

That Miche post :'(
Mine. Will have a bigger gear, Powertap and Speedplays for the actual thing but this'll do for 'training'

Ain't a Miche post!
The shades I'm going to ask you to wear as part of the AeroCoach team kit are exceptionally jokes.

Yep, it's all the same setup that I'll be using for the National Masters points race next weekend apart from shorter cranks. Those are 35cm Nittos.

I'll let you know if/when they get here. Different lenses in case we qualify for the evening final too.

I hope they're aero

So the general consensus is that 85" is going to be way too small? I'm a bit concerned about getting up to speed out of corners on anything much bigger. Panic is setting in already.

Stefan @ 8bar rode 52x16 for Milan 2012. He came 26th with just over 47kph average speed.

If you aren't comfortable at long term drafting at 115-120 rpm, get comfortable.

What were you riding at the Nocturne last year? I rode about 74" thinking I'd want a nice light gear to accelerate out of that bottom corner and up the hill, it was pretty savage, dread to think what my average cadence was. I'd much rather be over-geared than under in this situation

Point being you shouldn't find yourself alone in the wind for longer than 10 secs, but wheelsuck the hell out of the stronger riders which will put you in the 115-120 rpm range for quite some time, sucking that wheel.

Qualifying should weed them out.
It's slowing down that concerns me.

We'll have to see what the course looks like before making a decision I think. If it's a flowing course you could go mid/high 90s no problem, but a couple of dead turns and there's no way.

I'm just going to stick with my track training gear of 50 - 15

Spin to win

Are they paving the course before the race or will it be over the current surface? Saw a pic, that looked like it was going to be a crash fest if wet.

ok, i know it's anything goes as far as wheel and tire types are concerned, but what is the tire width preference for these crits. 23? 25? kinda dumb question but kinda curious.
-
• #147
25 because grip - if you weigh 60kg 23 is more than plenty though.

What is best for crit racing, square or round wheels?
@Scoot Send a message to Stefania Baldi (Desgena). She comes across really approachable and formed a women's team (Alfonsina) a couple of years back to get more ladies racing. I'm sure she'll be top 5 and has loads of fixed crit experience.
If you can't find her on Facebook drop me a pm and I'm sure she wouldn't mind me passing her email on to you.
