Thanks

The scrapes themselves shouldn't be a problem, I'd judge it on how heavy the impact was.

Narrow-wide chainrings for 130bcd, five bolt cranks.
Is anyone making one 10sp friendly and cheapish?

Not particularly fast, more of a draggy crash than an impact. They're retaped now so out of sight, out of mind.

Too true.

AQA - any questions answered - OK, here's a question from the dopey looking kid at the back of the class...!
I really enjoy reading a lot of the various projects that people here build and then go on to ride. There's a thread right now I'm following where a fella is building up a track bike from one of those eBay Carbon frames and another poster asked if it's possibly to drill the forks.
What this dopey kid wants to know is (Ok its me...cos I don't know anyone that races bikes to ask this very question) is... why don't track bikes have brakes? I said he was dopey didn't I :)
Ta!

why don't track bikes have brakes?
Essentially because you can always ride flat out through the corners :-)

why don't track bikes have brakes?
Because slowing down suddenly is dangerous when everyone's riding so closely, the gaps close up in the reaction time.
Also, brakes would risk losing traction.

For riding, walking or running?
5Ten Impact Low is my current preferred office shoe. Bought on eBay without checking they took cleats.

Was going to suggest Superstar Components but they are only doing a 110 bcd one at the moment.
I've an Absolute Black one, but it's not cheap. Very good though.

Sorry, for general everday use. On and off my bike

Thanks for the answer tester and Emyr, the dopey looking kid is now better informed.
Cheers!

Perfect. And makes perfect sense. Would have save my sweet anodised red chainstay back in the day. cheers!

That's an option. Thanks.

Not that I've found. Superstar only do 110bcd FFS. At one point it was crazy cheap to procure the Force CX1 crank + ring, I should have snapped one up.
Edit these raceface ones seem like good value

Just this second dropped ca$h on a Wolftooth ring. I know a few people riding them without issue and they come in around £50 (shipped, but pre-tax).
If anyone wants a nearly-new, 130bcd Surly 38t steel ring... send me a PM.

Probably a good one to go for. I'll give the raceface ring a go and see how it is.
