So about three year ago, after the MDTTA Xmas 10, I threw the Fixed lopro in the garage at my Sisters and that's where it was left. I had had enough of TT-ing and so proceeded to sell the geared lopro, aero helmet and a plethora of wheelsets I'd accrued and decided to set out and enjoy my cycling which after 25 years of racing and working in the trade I had stopped doing. This coupled with job/money problems and splitting up from a long term relationship was starting to get me down so I started just going out for a potter not worrying about average speed or 'training' and just enjoying it, stopping for coffee or to look at the view.
This approach has worked brilliantly for the last few years but the speeds have been creeping up and I am enjoying riding again. To the extent of that, tonight after much persuasion from club Mates and the new Missus, I am going upto the Malton Wheelers club 10!!! I have no pretentions of grandeur, no expectations of doing the rides I was once capable of, I'm just going up to ride it as hard as I can and see what happens.
Luckily I never sold the fixed lopro, so I've dug it out the garage, put a reasonably low gear (86.2" 49*15), stuck in a half decent non-aero front wheel, found a skinsuit out of the wardrobe and am now sat here :pooh: :pooh: myself waiting to get picked up!
