  • @nev Thank you. Will do. It's unlikely though. Been after a Galaxy for a long time, "91-93 period and in nice condition for a decent price. It's really in superb condition for 23 years old, and the Deore DX group is meant to be excellent too. Thought a Croix de Fer would be the way to go for a touring / audax bike, but this ticks all the boxes, is cheaper, and looks good too.

    I've put some Time ATAC Alium HP pedals on, and ordered Cinelli cork gel tape and SwissStop Rat Green pads. King cages, maybe a wider bar, swap the Zaffiro Pros for Randonneur Pros, then will leave the rest as it is.

  • Nice, give us an update when it's finished. I had a dx group on my first mountain bike. It was excellent if remember I bought it new more than 20 years ago!

  • Sacrilege for some but I've a 7spd indexed Deore DX group on my 'Nago cross bike and it's great-reliable, sturdy and the double chainring's cx gearing means it's perfectly able to winch me up steep hills with 20+kg on the rear.
