lack of commitment....
You can help with the prep on Saturday instead then (when I'm at a wedding)
-
• #5
Just let me know what I can help with..

• #6
Oh hang on. Got sat/Sunday mixed up - back in!
-
• #7
Support races then? Best way to shift a wedding hangover
-
• #8
Ugh. Still hoping for a ride in the sprint. Racing after a full day of standing around and drinking - can't wait.

Might see if I can sneak away from the admin to ride some of the support races on the day. will have to see how it goes though.
In other news @mrs_socks is getting a top notch coffee stand sorted so its looking like we'll have all bases covered.
I might even empty my parts bin and do everything for £5 with 50% going to the club.
Hopefully we'll get weather like we had on Wednesday too.

Due to lack of entries the support endurance races have now been cancelled. The few who have entered already will get their entry fee refunded.
Instead we will be running a B sprint for sprinters who don't qualify in the top 16. Sorry for those of you who were planning to enter on the day but we can't run an event properly if we have no idea who is going to turn up.
This was a bit of a no brainer really. Given that the sprints are part of a national series we thought it only fair to allow the riders who don't qualify for the top 16 to get another chance.
We would have kept it as it is and let the non-qualifying sprinters ride the endurance races, but the new 35 rider limit from British Cycling has forced our hand. We have had a lot of sprint entries so far, and it would be unfair for half the field to turn up and only get to ride a 200tt.
The women's races remain unaffected.
Sorry for any of you who were planning on entering on the day, but as race organisers we can't run an event based on predictions of who may or may not turn up on the day. Our priority has to be the national series event and those who have made the effort to enter it.
The support endurance races tended to be a points chasing sandbaggers paradise anyway so this means you get to see more decent racing :D

On non sprinting matters - I've just posted up about the £5 mini jumble that'll be up on the day.
Half of the cash goes to Save_BC.

I think I'm in. Then will do the women's sesh afterwards if it's still on @lucyh reckon you'll stay too? Help motivate me for RHC!
-
• #16
probably!
-
• #17
Now I'm thinking I might want to race this.. esp the keirin. but entry on the line + race license would mean £££..
-
• #18
:D If you race it, I will!
-
• #20
The EOL fee is still half decent value given the prize pot - probably the best for any entry level open event in the country (I'll save my rant about how you should all have entered in advance...)
Keirin: £100, £60, £40
Points £50, £30, £20
Scratch £50, £30 £20
Double Harness Pursuit £50, £30, £20 (you will need to find yourself a male human partner for this on the day, from among those already entered)Plus winners' custom made Supermad jerseys for the keirin and Double Harness, custom caps for all of the winners and Canopy beer gift packs for the podium places.
Not to mention the hefty prize pots for the sprint and madison, I wish I was racing and not organising tbh.

Oh and a reminder - that's for the women's events only. The men's support endurance races have been cancelled and the sprint and madison are full, there will be no entry on the line for any men's events.
Fellas, don't let that stop you coming down and watching some cracking racing.

• #22
Oh! I'm just coming to watch, I don't want to race. I meant probably around for women's session if it's on after
-
• #23
haha.. I'd be happy if I can stay in the bunch!
-
• #24
Yeah sorry I'm only coming to watch as well, I haven't been to the track once this year, for shame (winter due to pure laziness, spring/summer work has taken up all my weekends) and I'm only making my first reappearance at inters this Saturday, then the Sunday womens session. I expect to be 10% as fast as I was this time last year, sob.

For shame indeed:)
You'll be grand though as the watching alone guarantees at least an extra 5% so you and @lucyh will be all over the women's session.
Although you will have to run the beer & jerk chicken gauntlet first.....
Supermad is back again, even bigger and better than before.
Spectating is free and there will be the usual mix of top quality racing, cracking beer courtesy of the lovely folk at Canopy Beer Co , Captain Cliff's jerk chicken BBQ, good tunes and fun times.
As well as the headline madison races, we have women's races, support endurance races, the famous Ron Beckett double harness pursuit - a madison pursuit with mixed male/female teams - and this year the sprint is part of the British Cycling national sprinters league, so we will have some of the best sprinters in the country and from overseas fighting for top honours.
There is tasty prize purse of £1500+ and we pride ourselves on the fact the women's prizes are equal to the main men's prizes, with the Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome donating £200 for the women's keirin for the third year in a row.
We will also have some amazing winners jerseys and caps, custom made for us by Laché London
This is always a fantastic day of racing, hopefully we'll see some of you there. For those of you who want to race, entries are open on the British Cycling events page, £15 in advance or £25 on the day for women and support endurance - madison and sprint will have no entry on the day.
More info and race program on the BC events page and the Supermad Facebook page
PS thanks yet again to @6pt for the amazing posters.
