Never got round to posting photos of my finished water cooling silliness...
Can be pretty much silent, in that the HDDs spinning are by far the loudest thing in it. Clearly need more SSDs. Have to turn the fans up when it's making an effort but it's still quieter, cooler and faster that it was previously. Geek win, if there ever was such a thing.
Obviously has no HBM memory so will soon be obsolete :(

Not sure how effective those bottom fans are

I can feel warm air on my feet so they're doing something. Plan is to raise it off the floor a bit but I've not got round to it yet.

Sounds like they are blowing the wrong way...

Airflow should be bottom to top, front to back, not fighting convection.
Also more intake fans than exhaust fans so that less dust drops inside.

Lovely looking build, but I'm never not bothered about fact that as watercooling has gained in popularity, PSUs have migrated to bottom of the case. Leak...fzzzt....BANG!

The fan direction debate has been done to death. There's no proof (or none that I've seen at any rate) that things like positive vs negative pressure in the case make the slightest bit of difference. Moving air is the most important thing.
I went along with the reasonably common suggestion that the radiators should be pulling cool air in, so the back and bottom are exhausts. Checked temperatures at various spots inside it and they're pretty consistent. Right now room temp is 23, inside case and water both 27.

My internal blu-ray drive seems to have died. Still works with DVDs but doesn't recognise blu-ray discs at all. Tried it in a second PC and got the same so doubt it's software related.
Any suggestions for a replacement? Is everything much of a muchness? They don't seem to have come down in price at all since I bought one 4 years ago.

Really tidy build! Need some different colour fans though, beige plastic is truly grim. What cards are you running?
-
• #1862
Cheers. Yeah, the fans are very crap looking but they're decent Noctua ones that I'd not had for long. Also had to dremel the shit out of the ones on the top radiator to make them fit around the CPU power connector and heatsinks on the motherboard.
Cards are 6GB 780s. CPU and motherboard are relatively ancient, 2600k and Asus p8P67.

I thought I was the only person left on Sandy Bridge, 2500k here, with a single gtx560ti. Really starting to show its age now!

How dare you. Sandy Bridge is just fiiiine.

Hey peeps - I'm building on (just taking) a wishlist @Sumo put together but want to make sure I get everything I need before I place the order. Can anyone tell me what I may have forgotten off of this (not including monitor, keyboard, and mouse)? Or if you think swapping anything would be worth it...

To add to that, it's cable and mounts and things like that which I'm worried about. As I said in the video games thread, I've not built a PC since socket 7 days.

Looks tidy. I wouldn't worry about cables too much - the mobo should come with a few but it wouldn't hurt to get a 90 degree sata cable just in case.
Good call with the psu. Being the least-exciting component, it often gets overlooked.

I want to go from not very legit windows 7 to as good as legit windows 8 on my boot camp partition, how would one go about doing so? Got to be a better option than walking into PC World and asking for the CD-ROM like a dad from the 00's.
-
• #1870
Free upgrade to legit windows 10 from non-legit windows 7. Winning.
-
• #1872
Everyone on 7 upwards gets it for free when it comes out. The optional upgrade will come as a software update.
I'd wait until the boot camp drivers are updated though. -

Wise words. Will do, in no massive rush.

Cross post, but...
Anyone using a 750ti card? I'm going to get one as an eGPU and would be interested in experiences under gaming.... -

I know next to nothing about graphics cards but I've seen it mentioned in a few build videos recently. Lots of positive comments, it sounds pretty solid. I've specced up a couple of builds recently with this as my GPU.
I'm nerdily excited about HBM memory. Excited for a few generations of it down the line when I will be able to afford it anyway.
