Also The Modern Pantry, across from the Dove. I agree on that area, work there, there are some good options.
@jim1985 however, I'd do something down this line: Saturday stroll through Broadway Market, few drinks up the roof at Netil360 just around the corner in the afternoon, dinner at 7 sharp at Hill & Szrok. Best meat I've ever had. No reservations and sort of communal stools seating, but works well if group of 4 or so and before 7. Get there late and you will have to queue and forget about the best cuts.

^ basically eat in Farringdon. Crazy good area for a few pre drinks and decent food. Check out Dove tail for some Belgium craft.
Or the Jerusalem. Simple lovely.
Granger & Co on Clerkenwell green is good and not too pricey.
