  • So I might be just as well off getting some mtb clip-on style ones, and have less hassle when I get a flat?

  • They were ok for the first couple of months. They just went a bit downhill after that (rattley, kept getting misaligned and rubbed the tyre, etc). They are still useable if I replaced the bracket, but they were starting to get on my nerves with all the extra tweaking they needed and they are so warped the rubbing is almost continuous (not good for the tyre!). I just can't be bothered with them any more. Not worth £75 imo.

Saying that, the front one is still ok...

  • So I'm building a fargo and got these fuck off big sks mudguards but I need an extender on the front bracket so it's closer to the tire/works better.

Any advice as to how I should make a non flexy one or buy one?

    Cheers :)

  • looks great, any uk stockers or will I have to order from the US?

  • Triton Cycles are showing as 'in stock'.

  • Their website has recently improved, in regards to stock levels.

  • What guards are these?
    Ta.

  • Look like the same one as M:Part, it got similar clips.

  • Fed up of your drivetrain getting dirty?

    Get an SKS rear flap, and fit it in;

  • What's the front flap ed? I need longer ones and I'm considering Brompton

  • Those front flaps were/are sold by sjs, can't remember the name but not very tough, mine lasted about 3years mind.

@edscoble the rear hack you did there ^^ is excellent!

  • That was an NOS from SJS, the Brompton one would be more apt with some modification as the white one often get bend out of shape easily under heavy wind.

  • Anyone got a set of Crud Roadracers they don't want?

  • Got one pair a bit broken and one new in box. PM me.

  • Tried it but didn't seem to have the Clarence. The fly garnishing my shit sandwich was that I fugged the thread in the process. Still love the idea. It's just my execution that needs arranging.

EDIT: fixed the threads this way: https://youtu.be/pfPm1W89TO0

  • if you can find an old mtb tyre, then cut a strip of that, two bolts to the mudguard and makes a decent flap. wide enough for 23-30c and follows the curvature of the tyre

  • Looking for some advice.

I've been using narrow PDWs on an audax type frame (Rourke made of 653, seeing as you ask) with cantis, and have got on very well with them.

However, I'm currently building up a more robust set of wheels (A319s with 28s) for a bit of touring this summer. I tried to install a set of wide PDWS, but the front fork is not wide enough to accommodate. No amount of bodging would remedy this.

Any recommendations for an alternative set of guards, wide enough for 28s but with a bigger cut out for narrow-ish fork?

  • Struggling a bit with SKS bluemels. I want to install them on the extra hole provided on the tubus tara rack.
I thought about snipping off the end of the plastic bit that the stay slots into where it joins with the actual guard, allowing me to move the guard nearer the wheel without irreversibly cutting the stay. Any thoughts on this? Google pics for reference:

  • you don't need to use the stay slots at all if you want to keep the stays longer. or get a second pair of stays from sjs and keep them uncut.

  • I figured the plastic does a good job of eliminating any rattle. Gonna try it tonight, if spare stays are available, I'm sure I can get some new plastic slots if it all goes wrong

  • i don't use the plastic things and they don't rattle.
    spares here

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Wrong time of the year but just planning ahead ..
What is the best way of testing if PDW Full metal fenders will work on the bike I've got or not? Its a canyon ultimate AL, Kinlin non-wide rims, 25c tyres, 7900 brakes.

This review says it fits CAAD10
