Attention! For Details regarding the repaint of your Frame/s please contact Mario Gios ahead of it. You can send the frames down to Italy BUT you've to pay And pick it up down there! Due to contract regulations , I suppose, between Gios Italy and Gios Taiwan, Italy is not allowed to export any goods.

Any ideas on a date for this one. It arrived from eBay with a mix of components including an alloy Campagnolo freewheel! The previous owner reckons it's been resprayed and given the chrome detailing I wonder if it was all chrome at one point.

My Super Record is starting to flake paint in a couple of places but overall condition is tidy enough so don't want to respray.
Any tips on how to stop the flaking and/or repair the sections?

Just finished having my 63cm 1980 Torino Super Record done. I had it done in Brooklyn rather than Gios livery/ decals.

To my opinion and according to the pictures is it an 80/81 Super Record

Thanks for that, I loaded the photos on the Gios registration site a couple of months ago but have had no response.

That's the one, I sent pictures of the frame, maybe they'd prefer a full build...

Maybe it got spamed? Try again with a personal appeal to Marco Gios for some help, he will answer.

Hi,
a guestion to you Gios-addicts. There's near my place guy who sells a nice Gios Compact Evolution frame (the one with chromed lugs). Do you think 300 euro is a bargain?
Thanks

Two questions:
What are you realy looking for?
Which condition has the frame? -
• #243
I have several other steel bikes but don't know a thing about Gios. I know they have very expensive bikes but I don't know how this one compares to other Gios-frames. So I think I just want someone to say this isn't a "poor man's Gios" that weighs a ton and has shitty geometry.
Condition looks OK, no rust, no dents, very small chips, chromed lugs still shiny but no original forks.

For 300,- ? Forget it!
Collectable Gios frames are older than 1989. Names of these models are: Super Record, Professional, Aerodynamic and Compact (without any additional Name, like Pro, Evolution aso)
Your collecting steelbikes, so head for the real stuff. Whats your framesize? -
• #245
I'm not really a collector, I just happen to like steel bikes and don't have the heart to resist when a nice one pops up. ;-)
But I only "collect" the bikes from my early racing days (nineties), and this Compact Pro is said to be from 1996.

OK, now I got You. In this case it would match your collection, but the fork is missing!!
And, what about the adjustable dropouts , the rubber plugs of the brake-cable ( toptube) are they complete, all Original aso?! You cant get no spares! -
• #247
Thanks for signalling, I really appreciate. Being a non-connoisseur when it comes to Gios, I wouldn't have noticed those things if they were missing. I think I'll have a look at it this noon, it's only a couple of streets away.

It seemed to be a complete bike (except from the wheels) and erverything still worked so I took it. :-) Will post pictures later.
It's even a bike with a (small) history: the guy I bought it from rode this bike to a 28th place in the 1993 La Marmotte.

^In which case it's probably earlier than 1996!

Timeshift maybe?
Thanks guys, my friend bought it a few years ago but we've always had some doubts about the paint. After reading through the thread I saw that Gios_Compact had his repainted in Torino, thought it might be best to go down that road and try and restore in the best possible way. I wonder if they would strip/dip the powdercoat or should we try and get that done here. He's also got another frame and forks that were sold as NOS, I think its a SR but an anniversary edition (will get some pics up later, hoping its not also a repaint), the idea is hopefully to have one for a rider and one on the wall. I think I've found a full '87 Croce d'Aune groupset on a Dancelli that would fit it nicely. Any help and advice on getting them as perfect as possible would be greatly appreciated
