You're limited by time, so riding outdoors is a waste of time. You've got to make your time count and ride the turbo medium-hard.
FTP isn't the be all and end all racing. But at 3.5 and a light guy, you're going to struggle even if you can do decent power for short durations.
Have you done an all out 3 or 5 min effort recently? What was the w/kg?
No turbo atm; the time wont be an issue; I do prefer outdoor though.
I'll do some 1, 3, 5, 10 min tests over the weekend or something and share the results.
I may be wrong, but without long sustained climbs (which we just don't have around here) I think you'll find it hard to train without a turbo. I know I couldn't do it.
Go and airbnb in Cumbria / Yorkshire / Belgium and get some sweet riding in.
Do lots of riding.
