This is going to be a very gradual, long term project for me. I thought i would post early for some ideas and opinions while i collect funds before i start.
The bike was my dads road bike for various ridiculous races/triathlons etc before he bought himself a new one and passed it on to me nearly a decade ago. With a bit of searching I will be able to find the original down tube shifters and possibly a few other original bits that were removed at some point, maybe even the white pump which fitted inside the seat tube. It still has the original (oddly shaped) chainrings, seat, seatpost and quill stem on there. Not sure about the derailleur.
The wheels are knackered, rims are out of shape in both horizontal and vertical as well as having a pretty big bump in the rear rim, the hubs may be saveable but will have to wait and see.
My first task will be to take it apart and see the condition everything is in after a full clean and degrease, but as it is in storage up north that will have to wait until august at the earliest. The long term plan is to make a bike thats pretty fun for knocking about London. I keep thinking that internal gears would be fun but i really enjoy the peculiar shaped chainrings.
Can anyone point me towards what model it is, and its age? My dad can't really remember but im guessing its probably from about 20 years.
