• low flange is nothing but aesthetics, and a vague suspicion that in a build they are meant to be more forgiving of road buzz etc?

    I can certainly live with high flange. I built a rear wheel myself (not that it's great) with a generic sealed bearing hub (planet X) it's definitely better than what im running currently on the front (stock hub from fuji track) but I would like something smoother than that on both hubs... it's all a bit rough at the moment.

  • if it's rough, replace the cartridge bearing in the hubs and it'll be buttery smooth again, hell just reused your rear hub on a new rims.

    a wide rims + 28mm tyres make a much bigger difference in comfort without feeling too squirmy.
