  • Yes for me to wear and under the £500 budget. There are some other names such as squale which are at the 40mm range whilst the ocean 1 is 42mm which is the only thing holding me back ATM as I have smaller wrists. My skx031 fits great which is 40mm and a couple mm thinner too. Still might take a punt in the gmt pepsi steinhart.

If in any doubt about the Steinhart size, don't buy. They wear much larger than they look or their dimensions imply, and the case architecture makes them more "apparent" on the wrist than other 42mm watches like the SKX.

The 1545 that Gnomon and Long Island watches sell is not the same as the one shown on the Squale.ch site, which is NOS from the late 70's/early 80's. The current one is made under licence by Gnomon, and, while 'entirely designed and hand finished in Switzerland', may have travelled quite a long way in between times. If you know what I mean. It is a very nice case, but the dial and hands are not the best. If you want a sub homage, the Davosa Ternos is probably a better bet, but may not re-sell as quickly should you want to get rid of it. I have both cases, so if you do want to try before you buy, give me a shout.

  • You really shouldn't have mentioned that davosa! Now I want that! At this rate I'll probably just end up buying a rolly!
