55 centre to centre seat tube

Here's my Donohue 853 cross bike I just finished building.

Wow, lovely yet again... Just keep on being amazed by how many great looking bikes there are over these 10 pages! Loving everything from the crazy bright 2-tones to the 'ti' mtb.
My teardrop downtube btw was 725 (just to add to the mix of 531 & 853 already up there).
The downtube was quite a revelation actually - combine it with the short oversized chainstays & the extra stiffness over my old 531 lugged bike is immense - but without losing any comfort.

@JDT - awesome cross bike there. nice work. Is the chain a link or 2 short though?

Yeah I think it might be, but I bought the chainset, cassette and chain second hand as a package so no extra links.

It looks a lot like a Donohue... now it is 531 millennium or 853? No idea...

Whatever it is, the TT and DT are both aero shaped and beefy.
But no serials anywhere...perhaps they're under the paint?

PS: Ebay pic, came w/o wheels and stem needs slammed and all that

buy all the tiny yellow track bikes!

There's not that many...I may just be able to fit them all in my house :p

@JWestland Cool! Can't help on the metals but that should be a stiff frame. If you don't want the stem I'll buy it - Also, If you measure the headtube I may have a set of Carbon forks that would suit that 1" threadless but with a steerer trimmed too short for any of my bikes.

HT probably only 11 cm its a 51 square.

Lots of small chips & some rust so autosol and rust converter going to be out.

From here it looks like 853 to me, I've never seen a 531 millennium Donohue built frame with an aero toptube so my bet is on 853.

When she arrives weigh her and get some close ups on the welds and it should be more identifiable.

I have it on very good authority that this is a titanium frame built by Donohue. Seller doesn't appear to realise.

@TRA 11 cm HT for it/him/her. Stem is 10.5 cm, most likely too long for me, if no good you can have it for postage :)
@AMAC 853 unless I'm really mistaken, it sounds really "thin" when you tick on it with your nail.

I'll go and clean it up and start a build thread instead of fill this thread :)

Cool, no rush but if it is too long I paypal some cash your way. Also, I'll measure up the forks.
Is the fork on your's drilled? If it's the unicrown fork then i've been told 50% it's OK to drill and 50% definite NO, so yeah, I didn't.

The fork is this one,think the steerer is 155, which depending on headset would be perfect:

Here's some piccies of Paul. It has a certain "eats other frames" look about it...

I won't drill the fork, it feels too light to me, and I prefer to leave things original.

Yeah don't drill that fork, use another fork if you need a brake. :)

Wasn't watching it myself but someone posted it in the ebay/craigslist finds section after bidding had ended. Someone out there now has an incredibly nice bike :-)

Wanted to post an update!

Got rid of the rusty forks for nice threaded kenesis carbons. Added a Thomson Layback and got this really nice (rare?) Graham Weigh signature ITM stem.

Pretty happy with this build!

Black works really well.

I agree another fork may be nicer...but there's not too many 1" threaded forks (unless you're OK with used from EvilBay or USA import...)

yeeeah I agree that a pair of woundups or other straight blades would be nicer but hey these were 30 quid and make for a more relaxed ride so whatever. Plus its so hard to find good quality 1inch threadeds with the right length steerer.

Just like to add some appreciation for my GW - took it for a fast mixed surface blast on the weekend, including some bumpy dusty paths. Nicked the 28c Paselas from my wifes bike and threw on my old set of archetypes. Excellent combo! Still fast enough, cushy and handles gravel with aplomb. And the 28's fit with ease. Versatile frameset! It was totally comfortable for the 68 K's . Bike's really dusty and grubby now but I kinda like the mad max vibe...
