  • Pick up tomorrow! I need to come into work after ive picked it up though, which is a bit of a bummer.... Working hard to afford fancy car = not enough free time to enjoy fancy car. How ironic.

  • Nice one

  • nice! DSG?
I have never seen one of those GTi's with those wheels on that arent fucked. Get them refurbed and you'll shift them on ebay/VW forum well easy.

  • I'll probably just hang onto them.

DSG - yep, but it needs a fluid/filter change. I'll do it with the next service.

That and a little ding in the boot lid sorted and it will be pretty mint.

  • Nooooooooooo

    Sacreliege!

  • now on the right page

  • You must have a few people on ignore...

  • I've always liked the BBS CH on Golfs

  • Not yet... (961) :-P

  • i am on page 961
what page are you on ?

  • Ha. 960. On mobile mind... Doh!? Maybe I'll post again? B-)

  • only another 40 posts till

  • At first glance I thought that had 6 wheels, where the race number decal is!

    ...must wear my glasses more!

  • A racing car with six wheels!? That would be madness.

  • see, opinions differ (but it's your car, so what the heck!), for me the monza's really make the car stand out. if refurbed i'd consider black and red to match the front grille, like so:

  • they are exactly the rims i was thinking of.

  • Congrats @hoops and @BRM on your new cars

@Scoot I know fuck all about that specific vehicle but if it's got a dodgy battery and been out in the wet it could be the points are a bit damp? Some WD40 on key areas could help.

  • A better idea is the entire engine and transmission from an Audi A4 or a 90s Passat - they have an engine mounted north-south with a transaxle gearbox for front-wheel drive - exactly the same setup as the Citroen H van in fact. Then as well as a decent engine you have a decent gearbox too, and you can use the whole drivetrain to give it decent brakes too.

    This guy's done it.

As for the starting issue, the battery probably needs replacing with a new one. They don't last forever and if it's failing to hold a charge for very long it's knackered. Even charged up an old battery can be too knackered to energise the solenoid that engages the starter motor with the flywheel.

  • Lovely Golf BRM. I'd refurb those wheels and then fit tyres like Goodyear Eagle F1 a/s2 that have a big ridge to protect the rims.

  • ^ Rim protectors...

    That last GTai allay pic

I seen several aftermarket coloured rings fitted now...is new spokey dokey?

  • Agreed, too big (maybe) and too prone to curbing. I'm an advocate of slightly smaller wheels with higher profile for a fast road hatch. Also I think the GTi looks good when the wheels have a little dish or BBS styled. Maybe I'm just old...

  • OH, just saw up thread. Yeah, go the BBS @BRM

  • I was going to say ATS DTC @BRM but I've just realised newer Golfs aren't 4x100

  • Or maybe some Mercedes Ronals?
