Evans are cunts.
If you must buy a bike from them, tell them that if they lay one finger on it, you'll beat seven barrels of shit out of them; then take it to a proper bike shop to get it set-up and checked over.
Even better, give your money to a proper bike shop in the first place.

I'm getting the genreal theme here is something along the lines of Evan's being cunts. Is that right?
In on-topic news, what does a Langster go for these days? That might be worth a look.

I guess that you are talking of the one at the end of mortimer street.
The guys there, specially the ones working in the repairs are all dh's or Freeriders.
But have a word to see what kind of deals they have, i remember that last time, if you purchase to a certain value, they would give you some extra £s to buy some gear for free.
Not all Evans employees are cunts. Have a look at what your requirements are. -

Let them build it up, and take it to another shop for a basic.
It would cost the other shop even more to build the bike from box rather than a simple basic service (usually £35).

I do agree, it's just unfortunate they're poorly treated by the company as a whole.

Thanks for comments, I don't have to use cycle scheme but thought it is good to save the money.
It is either go with the scheme, upgrade my frame or replace with a nicer full bike.
What are Foffa like? I have seen that Velorution have an SS for £380 on the scheme.

They're ok, prefer the single speed Pelago over the generic Foffa.
Hi,
I am thinking of getting a new bike through the cycle scheme at work. I am based near Goodge Street and there is a Evans near by, I assume they are a good option? What bike are best to choose at the cheaper end of the single speeds available? Looks like they have a Fuji, Charge and Jamis Beatnik - are any of these good options?
Lee.
