  • Those ammo boxes way a freaking tonne even when empty.

  • it's a good way to mean someone's not going to walk off with it when you lock up

  • More reader's wives. Bit shiny with new chain and cassette, but meh.

More bad photos and build info >>Here

  • ammo boxes look alright and are sturdy but if bent the metal ridges can go out of place and opening them costs falling on the floor in the process and or broken nails

  • Could have fit 2 ammo cases side by side.

  • Great build after great build. When I get my cc back to Manchester after summer I've been thinking about something similar for city duties

  • That looks like blast!

  • ^Thats reep and ugly.

  • What is bothering you, not enough consensual?

  • The frankenbaskets a lot of these bikes have - how are they made? Anyone got any tips?

  • I've thought a bit about this, but I talk a good project and rarely ever deliver -this is no exception.

Take a look at TCB http://www.tcbracks.com/gallery/#/images/gallery1.jpg
They manage to achieve some excellent designs with just aluminium tube, nuts and bolts.

clamp down the ends in a vice or mole grips and drill bolt holes through.
You'll need some strong round objects to bend them round - hand rails for example
The aluminium tube can be acquired from garden centres - it's used for making fruit cages.

  • My pub bike! Today I make some better pictures.

  • If I hadn't used wood id have used a metal shopping basket. Word on the street is that they cost a lot to make so I wouldn't steal one but they are super tough and the fittings to your bike would break before the basket

  • how you can ride such gear ratios? I don t understand ratios under 3////

  • ^do you live in a flat city ?
2,7 is the optimal ratio, more is for Fixed TT

  • Many years ago- in the last century even - I sent my technician to scrounge a couple of shopping baskets as part of an' A' level product design exam - every school offering the exam needed at least two, but couldn't tell anyone why. Needless to say it was difficult, and the main reason for the local shops not co-operating was the cost of a shopping basket. I gained two important bits of information: AQA Product Design was run by idiots, and shopping baskets cost over £25 each in the late 90s.

    tl;dr yes they're expensive.

  • yes .I live in flat city but there are some good hills here. i use to ride 46 15 and it was a bit annoying. now i ride 52 15 it is a bit hard to me in windy days or when ride with luggage/ IMO strong rider can ride 3.2 3.4 ratios. 3 25 is good for me i think. under 3 it's for kinda SF cities.
    sorry for my english///

  • Thats a stupidly high gear for normal riding. You need to learn to spin and loose the big gear bravado.
