If anyone is interested in buying an SMP Hell saddle, I managed to find this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2015-Selle-sella-bicicletta-SMP-hell-nera-versione-con-grafica-aggiornata-/201351326083?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_101&hash=item2ee1796983
It's the cheapest I've managed to find for the saddle!

Good find, make it worthwhile going for over the Extra if you don't mind Italian postal.
-
• #454
I might well replace the Extra on my tourer with one of those, seems like a really good price!

@homingmissle @edscoble That's exactly where I am getting mine from, will let you know when it turns up - got an email saying it was sent out on Monday.

The saving is probably worth the slightly longer wait!

Oxymoron much?

The other bike have a standard 73 degrees seat tube which result in in-line and forward.
The track bike I suspect have something like a 75 degrees seat tube, so a setback probably needed, it also have yet to be tweaked properly with a spirit level to make sure it's the correct distance from the BB.

how long does it take for fake SMP to arrive from China?
-
• #461
Most stuff is 1 to 2 weeks, sometimes longer.

Oddly enough, I did not find the Hell as comfortable as the Composit despite sharing almost identical shape.
Stiffer = moar comfort.

Joining the club. Decided to skip the china carbon / padded budget model test phase and ordered a Dynamic for my light tourer. Hopefully it'll be good.

Hell turned up this morning (the saddle, not the girlfriend) so a just over a weeks postage from Italy which I don't think was too bad.
Bit more squishy than I thought it would be, perhaps what you are referring to Ed, will give it a proper try at the end of the week.

The curiously named Lordgun Bicycles look to have the best prices for SMP right now.
Italian shop, so kosher supply, and they take Paypal if you're leery of the Italian post.
Having said that, I learned of them from someone upthread who had a successful purchase.

I think I am a convert to the SMP way of thinking, my "homage" Carbon SMP seems to have resolved some postural issues I have been having. I'll continue to test, but may have a fairly significant number of Arione's (base to R1's) for sale soon.

You'll love the Composit then.
Felt more cushioned (flex in middle despite no padding) than the ultra hard carbon.

Padding does not equal comfort.

I ride my Forma with no bibshorts. It's super comfy. It's all about just having a saddle that works. And sit-bones made of steel.
-
• #472
What's that got to do with anything. Are we just saying random things now or do you think stiffness and padding are at all related
-
• #473
Scientists around the world has not yet covered this area, so it's still witchmagic and hunch.

^ Here's your answer.
Since going full-retard and putting SMPs on everything I only ever get uncomfortable with rubbish bib-shorts with overly stretchy lycra. Shimano shorts are shit! It's not so much the pad that's an issue as whether or not it stays put.

My answer to what? No one was even talking about padding, I'm pointing out that this dude says stiffness = comfort one time and flex = comfort the next. So which one is it, can't have it both ways can you.
If you still don't get along with it, I'd be interested in taking it off you!
