I need to buy the Hell once it's available to see if the shape is the same.

The carcass is the same shape as the carbon I think, just with quite a lot of padding. A bit more padding than I'd like actually.
-
• #431
Lots less than the Extra, but sound like it's perfect for a hip hop slavery without bibs short
You do need the Composit.

You do need the Composit.
I'm ok with my bootleg on the 'nice' bike. The Composit has a little more vertical compliance ?
-
• #433
From the pictures on the Steve Hogg site I think that the fake SMP I have is modelled on the Composit - the rail's and their relationship to the shell look far more similar to that than the actual full carbon.
It was pissing down this morning so I ran a quick half instead of going out on the bike, but tomorrow looks to not be dreadful, so I'll pop out.

It is the same shape as the Composit, the carbon version are based on that (genuine one).

The Composit has a little more vertical compliance ?
Let says it's still quite stiff but not enough to ride without bibs like the carbon bootleg.
Even hitting pothole doesn't jarred you.

Feels pretty good in this position, which I wasn't expecting given the posts in this thread:
-
• #437
Comfortable it may be in that position but it will magically mould to your ass once you tilt it up a bit.
-
• #438
Nose up a bit you reckon?
-
• #439
I think nose position is very individual. The mound at the front can dig into ur bits of it's too high. For me I found best position to be -2.5-3deg. Bike looks ace tho, love the colours. Got a real Forma for sells if that'd be use to anyone..

• #441
Mines slightly higher but I'm by no means an expert. I tried a multitude of positions and found what worked for me. If the SMP hurts you, you're doing it wrong.
-
• #442
I'm perfectly happy with all of my saddles, zero issues on 5 hour rides but now I want to try an SMP. FFS LFGSS.
-
• #443
Mine are both nose down a little FWIW.
I see you're carrying a spare, emergency saddle in a bag just-in-case.
-
• #444
You can never be too prepared.
Mine is slightly nose down, as per S Hogg's instructions, I'll fiddle more over the next few days.
What was interesting from the first ride was that not crushing my warrior did mean the bike felt shorter, as I could happily rest onto/into the saddle rather than holding myself off it.

He's right, angle is very individual.
-
• #446
I found the best was to go on a cycle and fiddle w it as you go. You'll def find the best position with time, just feels right. Take a water measure after to get the angle and bobs ur uncle ;) tbh it's the comfiest saddle I've ever ridden and has stopped me sliding about the place and makes me feel like I'm putting much less weight on my hands. Course a good fitting sesh also helped that ..

I find the amount of euphemisms in this thread quite funny - but also, like downsideup it's also making me want to try an SMP. I haven't even received my SLR Flow in the mail yet and I'm thinking of returning it to try an SMP.
I find a 143mm Toupe (set level) to be totally fine, not perfect, but still OK on 3 hour + rides so what would be a good place to start with the SMP?

• #448
So this is what I found.
The SMP Hell have slightly less padding (very slightly) than the SMP Extra, it's just better looking.
The Hell and Extra share similar shape to the Composit.
@TRA try the Extra for first timer, as it's cheap too, if you like it, get the more comfortable Composit, stiffer saddle hold you better while having a little give.

i couldnt get on with my SMP quickly enough, I was hoping after 100 miles it would at least be as comfortable as my existing slr superflow but it just crushed my nads. I've got a 300k coming up next week so didnt want to take a chance & reverted back.
I hope it can be set up to suit me, the lack of moving around on the saddle was amazing as I normally always slide forward.

Play around the angle a lots, if it feel crushing, move it forward.
The Hell weighs 100g less. If you think you might keep it that's a thing.
