  • ah yes the last incarnation 16v evo, nice

had a f plate 8v, suitably quick in all weathers - wrapped it round a tree in the lakes on new years day 1990 something - how we laughed..

    #wac

  • I love them,
one in red would do , but.....

  • lanci beta coupe ie, another future classic, clean lines

  • I'm saying nothing because my comments will get shot down in flames by our resident expert on all things automotive.

  • Already classique, non?

  • heh!

speak up and be heard, it's the internets, what could possibly go wrong?!

  • which one/all? beta, grale, rado, rocco?

  • Beta and 'grale fo sho. Others can vorsprung durch #suckmadick

  • 2.9 wasn't as good as the 3.0 in the golf.

Wonder how many corrados are left, alot got smashed up/stolen and body panels/trim were hard to source. Remember waiting over 14 weeks for a door window trim, sold the car and went to the new owners house to fit the trim.

  • Often wonder how many beta's are left after the 'that's life' beta are death traps campaign.

How about a BETA HPE VX...2 door estate with a supercharger. Didn't make that much more power than the injected 2l but the sound.

  • Other than a 250 GT California I'm generally not a lover of the offerings of automotive Italia, but the only ones I'd even look at are the following:

    1) an original Fiat 500.
    2) an Alfa Guilia.
    3) an Evo 2 'Grale.

Italian engineering: looks beautiful - will break/won't last.

  • Weren't they 2.8 and 2.9?

    #pedant

  • BETA HPE VX...2 door estate with a supercharger

    ver nice

  • all solid classics

i think most cars of a vintage/classic era were poorly fabricated, not just italian; but then they didn't embrace japanese quality control (neither did UK for a while) so really lost out to manufacturers that did

    lancia flaminia gt touring

  • What about zee Germans?

  • Check out Harry's Garage on YT, he talks us through his absolutely mint yellow example

  • The Italians still haven't embraced a decent level of build quality.

Would you rather have an accident in a 70's Italian Car or a 70's German car?

Or the 458 of today or an Audi R8?

How many vintage Italian cars are still running (and I don't mean festering somewhere getting a weekly wipe with a Gucci rag) in comparison to German cars of a similar era?

Don't get me started on the UK...

  • mclaren f1 lm road version for sale at auction in the coming days

  • The Italians still haven't embraced a decent level of build quality.

    true

Would you rather have an accident in a 70's Italian Car or a 70's German car?

    neither

Or the 458 of today or an Audi R8?

458, live one day as a lion over 1 year as an automaton

How many vintage Italian cars are still running (and I don't mean festering somewhere getting a weekly wipe with a Gucci rag) in comparison to German cars of a similar era?

not many, but they're so very pretty to look at!

British Leyland, go on, you know you want to..

  • Pops head in pulls moonie, then fucks off.

  • Didn't BL stand for Bloody Letdown?

  • I did a quick google, weren't one of the engines, smaller one, USA/canada only?

  • Now that Lancia is nice.

Here is something to think about, pre EEC entrance all imported cars had import duty. Hence some cars being poverty models as they were trimmed here as well as having chrome work from English cars. All to reduce the price hence reduce the duty. Example of this was the Lancia Appia, uk cars were delivered with hession covered metal frame seats and were fitted with the bumpers from a morris 8.

The basic Lancia Fulvia was a similar price to the e type jag.
