  • giant brioche? amaze

  • I am new in the lfgss community (1 year) which means my idea has probably happened before, but the more I read this thread the more I find myself thinking of a great Sunday picnic/bbq/cook-off in which all of the pretty pictures we post on here are all shared on a table with good beer and wine.. How hard would that be to set up?

  • @mands Now we know where she nicked the idea from! I wish I'd used brandy in the duxelle but I'm sick of buying booze that'll never get drunk - Pernot, amaretto, bourbon, port, sherry and schnapps at last count. I need a teenage kid to steal it when they're off school 'sick'.

  • @inchpincher dibs the Bourbon!

As a vegetarian I shouldn't say this but the shooter's sarnie looks fit.

  • How hard would that be to set up?

    ah, the optimism of youth..

  • That hard?

This forum is great for setting up social rides, I don't see it a giant leap forward to say "mate bring some homemade food and drinks, we ride to a park and we all share"

  • You can do the same with some Portobello mushrooms, or lentils and goats cheese or any other gloriously liquidy veggie options.

  • Good shout, time for experimentation.

  • no, not that hard, i organised some drinks for the 24hr world chump, and about 50% attendance or 20 peeps showed up (at some point throughout the night, with a hardcore of 8 or so), just paste up an event, what's teh worst that can happen..?

  • i'm liking the look of that!

  • As I said, I'm new around, don't know many ppl, I guess if I do that very few would show up..

  • I remember reading that recipe before. Life won't be complete til I've had one.

Looking forward to seeing the results!

  • From reading your posts on this thread, I definitely would. Your food looks ace!

I wouldn't talk to you though, just eat.

  • It's about time we had more events again, go for it. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't happen, but we'll just have to find out what people's appetite is for it now. I'd certainly try to come along and bring something cooked if I could make it.

There have been a few forum barbecues (was it two?) as well as two bake-offs at the Coach and Horses (now seemingly no longer an active forum venue).

We could ask the new management at the Chesham Arms in Hackney (soon under forum management) if they'd be up for having us for a barbie. They don't do food yet so might not mind us bringing our own. Beer garden at the back, beer on tap, bring bikes through from the street, sunshine (natch). What could possibly go wrong?

  • <<<<<<< hehe. Sorry about that. Bad day. ALL LFGSSSSers are my buddies.

  • ^^^^^^^@inchpincher. That looks amazing. Any pics of the inside?

  • Dibs the rest of the alcohol...

Meet up by the swings in the park...

  • It'll have to wait until tomorrow as I work night shifts, fingers crossed there's some left when I get home.

  • Who posted that sarnie originally? @CYOA ?

  • BBQ idea sounds ace. Am sure there's an area in Burgess park that you can do this.

  • Went to Wing Yip for the first time a few months ago, their gyoza are about £4 for a box of 20 and they're delicious and a piece of piss to cook

  • which one, the only that comes to mind is the big one, on the way to purley..
