Did you win this on ebay? Remember watching one with similar paintchips that went for silly cheap and still regret not buying it!

Yes. I was absolutely going to keep it as it is just a perfect example of the frame builder's art but in real World terms I won't ride it which is a real shame and I would really like a modern tt bike which would actually get used.
Ideally I'd keep it but if I sell for a bit of a profit it will balance out the losses I usually end up making.
Gone to Ebay now
cheers

That's fair enough.
A £300 markup's pretty steep in my books (and more than just 'a bit of profit') but, like you say, it certainly is lovely. -

Yes people often complain on here about profit - I just put things on for a bit less than I think they are worth and allow for lower offers. If a person bought a Cinelli Laser for £100 you wouldn't expect them to sell it for £150 -at £2500 it would be a give-away but a very high % mark-up. To me I wouldn't want to sell the Simoncini for much less than an offer near the price.
Thing is sellers are only offering items and it's up to the buyer to say yes or no.
The mark up was 244 then allow for bargaining say -50 leaves 194 and I took the chance and bought it -could have been a loser etc etc.
Anyway thanks for your points .
All the Best

Yup yup completely fair enough bud. I guess the only reason I brought it up is that in a forum marketplace based entirely on trust and openness it's only fair that sellers are completely honest about where everything's coming from/happy to justify their pricing if asked to - which obviously you can because it's a real peach! I know I've been called out on it before, so I'm not really one to preach anyway.
And obviously you shouldn't have to act out of charity but on somewhere as friendly and encouraging as this forum it might be a good idea to reign in the markup a lil bit, instead of bringing it up to its wider market value you could put the price up by, say, ~£100, earning yourself a bit of money and still giving someone a bargain that they'll look after and no doubt love to ride. Just my two cents anyway, and probably a bit too idealistic anyway (who's to say the next person won't just mark it up themselves?). Nonetheless, the idea of karma around the forum's a nice one.
Anyway, hope that seems fair enough, and hope everything goes well with your sale on ebay. Like you said it's a real work of art - bet it's gonna look unbelievable when built up!

Thanks for your views -and I know exactly what you're saying - I have offered stuff FOC on here as well as advice etc which is what a forum is all about -I just couldn't bring myself to part with this for a 100 profit -you know what I mean.
Anyway All the Best

Hi
Just a quick offer of this frame before I list on Ebay.
Simoncini lo pro 55cm top tube ctc .
Columbus Tretubi (I believe this is one of Gilbert's Gilco tube designs on the three main tubes.)
Very nice proper fluted tubes not just crimped -the seat tube flutes start with a sort of two point design.
Fully nickel plated and then chromed forks and stays - Chrome in superb gleaming condition.
Painted in Metallic red lacquer.
Some minor chips (very well touched in) and little bit of paint lift where bottle bosses are (not corrosion at all)
I was going to keep this as with everything I buy but have decided to get a more modern tt bike so selling everything classic.
£400 collected High Barnet
