The Synapse carbon disc are amazing, I build one with a slammed stem and it actually look awesome.

Alu Disc, however is not, avoid like the plague.

Did you remove the conical spacer?

Given my flexibility I could use their 56cm frame but would need to swap the stock 100mm stem for 110 or 12o and probably keep the conical spacer. Or go one size up slammed stem but have 100mm stem.

Yes, the Synapse probably have a very big headtube and a fairly shorter reach than your commuter.

56cm have stock 110mm (AFAIK).

You might actually have to swap to 100mm (give or take) if you slammed it.
