I am assuming that cannondale's r&d into carbon frames is further advanced than a relatively new custom carbon frame manufacturer. Added to this the bulk buying power of a relatively large company I guess the total bang for buck to be better on an OTP bike. For example with the synapse I'd look to swap the saddle for an arione which I have bnib at home and then put on some nice wheels. The other wheels could be my backup for either this bike or my commuto x bike. Even then I'd guess the total cost would be less than the build cost for a full custom bike - and I know that boutique builds always spiral out of control.
Another thing is Sigma for example are offering two year interest free finance packages
Part of me thinks that mudguard mounts should not be a deal breaker as the commuto x bike has guards already fitted.
Di2 ultegra disc brake road bike?
Cannondale synapse appeals, but does not have mudguard mounts.
Are there any that do?
