Which pedals? Shimano M980 or Time XC8

  • I'm choosing between;

    Shimano M980
    Or
    Time Atac XC8

    It's for fixed gear and I've already experienced that SPD-SL are not the way forward for fixed.

    Sorted myself a pair of Giro Republics, for a classic style, just need a pedal system to complement my bike.

  • I have both, the SPDs seem more solid, i highly doubt the XC 8 will get half of the mileage of the shimanos, these things are indestructible. That said the ATACs are lighter and harder to unclip (And clip too, sadly). If price is a deciding factor SPD are way cheaper and the cleats too.
    Ultimately I'll change to ATACs because I like the floatiness and the secure feel, tough I only unclipped the SPD using some 10 year old pedals & cleats, and because they look better in my bikes

  • What is wrong with SPD-SL and riding fixed?

  • Cannot get the hang of it...I've slipped off a few times, esp on hill starts and almost swerved into the path of riders and cars, I've lost confidence in them for fixed road use.

    Not cool!

    Plus the majority of people recommend double sided spd's. So i thought I'd try
