Not sure what clearances your forks have, but i rode a pair of rivendell "ruffy tuffy" for london duties for months. I did a bit of touring on them before that and they're still looking like there's plenty left in them, so would say they're worth considering for a larger volume gum wall, but not a skidder.
Really wish you'd not reposted that photo, had convinced myself that going black/grey with bolt on bits was the correct choice, not so bloody sure now, maybe ocd is in the mix after all....
Just re-read this, recon I should have space up front but to confirm, you had 28s fitted with no rear issues? Oh and I'm neither young or cool enough for skidz so no worries there....
