Unified Remote.
Has specific 'remotes' for different applications on your computer. Works well with VLC if you set up the http-based remote.
Also can act as a mouse if you really need.

Anyone got any recommendations for good ways to control a pc remotely using a phone/tablet? I just mean like adjusting volume, playing and pausing media files etc
