Carbon ones can be had for ~£18 if you look a bit.

Is the one I had on Monday -

Which one do you recommend/prefer?
-
• #380
Prefer the carbon one, even without padded shorts. Harder to recommend them, after the few issues people have had, but at £18 its pretty disposable, as long as it doesn't go totally disposable whilst you're riding. That one is not too padded though by any means, which is nice

You can get a testing saddle from any official SMP dealer!

After initially HATING my fake SMP on the road bike, I'm actually quite liking it on my TT bike where my position is lower and moved forward.
I don't think I'd like to do anything longer than a 25 on it, but it's proving suitable for 10's where I don't really care about comfort. -
• #383
Get the SMP Extra instead, they're geniune and not as paddy as I expected them to be.
Great first try, and the non padded version is even more comfortable.
I ride the Composit without bibshort, still very comfty.

I did ~85 miles on my carbon one on Saturday and 104 miles on the padded one on Monday. Both comfortable, both less than half the price of an Extra. Shrug
-
• #385
I have been trying to figure out why the smp has to be more forward than other saddles, dont you sit in the same position?
-
• #386
Don't suppose anyone has tried to put on a carradice bagman mount on to the saddle at all yet?
-
• #387
This should be fine on all the steel rail versions.
-
• #388
Parcel force have delivered something for me to my local post office- idk what it is for sure, but I reckon it's my Faux-SMP's.
Extraordinary pain or blissful comfort may be a feature of this coming weekend.
-
• #389
I have its fine on the steel rails although given the amount of setforward I need, I may now have to plumb for a sqr

Probably one followed the other. Mine took some tweaking.
-
• #392
I ordered a new post as mine was (according to Steve Hogg) incompatible with the SMP. I am now worried that I should have got inline instead of 20mm layback- but I do run my seat a long way back usually.
-
• #393
Inline. Probs.
I normally run a 125mm setback and I need an inline with SMP.
-
• #394
Less radical change for me. Inline is perfect for the carbon fake and 20mm setback puts the clamp just behind centre on a different bike with a Hell.
tl:dr Be patient and see. It'll depend on your seat tube and shit.

Composit is flatter, think it had the least pronounced shape.
-
• #396
Have you got one? To test it.
-
• #397
I do have a spare Composit awaiting, but since the Oak is not yet completed, pop into my shop to pick it up! (The London Cycle Workshop).
It's brand new too, so you can get that italian whiff.

HA
Thanks ed. I'll get in touch. Not going anywhere for a few days.
-
• #399
I think you'll find the Composit much more comfortable and less flaffing about aligning it.
Ignoring the colourful line and dots, you can see the difference;

Of the two which is the Alibaba fake most similar to/the same as? Or is the fake carbon a different shape of its own?
