Touring shorts are great and all (3 pairs, just in case...) but the lack of side pockets drives me mad off the bike.

Agreed. If I'm happy without pockets I'll use bibs. If I want pockets I'll wear shorts

Don't really see the benefit of a 'normal' look off the bike if it's less practical than my Levi's 511 shorts
