Personally I hope they don't introduce any qualification for LEL. It's one of the nice things about the ride that you get people on it with very little Audax specific experience, but are in good enough shape and/or bloody minded enough to finish it.
The DNF rate for LEL is no different to that of PBP, so I'm not sure whether pre-qualification helps in any way (but that's kind of comparing apples to oranges anyway).
I'll see what happens when I mention LEL 2017 to Mrs GB. At least it's in the middle of the school holidays.
