  • They are 19mm internal and 25mm external.
There is only clearance for a 23mm tyre up front

Was looking for a picture to mark up, and somebody has already done it. With a relatively high pressure road tyre and no sideways landings off jumps, you're not all that likely to encounter this situation where the hoop stress in the carcase is pulling the bead with no restraint from the bead hook.

  • My time with 19mm internal rim and 23mm tire was flawless.

  • Saw this on Gower St today. Looks good

  • I've been riding 23mm tyres on A319 rims for a while. More as a result of what's lying around rather than design, but haven't had any issues. On road use only.

  • Good feedback guys, thanks.
Like I said, I can change the rim 5 times for the price of an archetype so even if it dents it's not a disaster. The pressure is still around 80 psi, so I hope I'll avoid the 'fail mode' altogether :]
    £55 wide wheel set ftw!

  • And the XM119 is a smart looking rims despite being nearly 100g over the Archetype, reckon you made the right call.

  • Carcass? /pedant

Carcase is more British and more archaic, which fits my style. Carcass wins about 10:1 in google results, reflecting its being more American and more modern.

    Huh?

  • Huh?

What don't you understand? There are two acceptable spellings of one English word, I prefer the older and less common one.

  • Dammit. Yeah sorry, misread it.

  • My question is , couldn't the fit of the tyre on the wider rim depend on the tire as well (in example a tad smaller or bigger 23mm tires)? I am also riding the A119s and they feel sturdy and forgiving with 25mm tires. I did however mount a 23mm tire on a 20mm internal width rim and it looked a bit sketchy (although it holds really nice on 80-90 psi when riding).

  • Sorry for a late reply.

What frame are you using with all that goodness? It would be nice to see it with that setup.

  • Hello, I am currently replacing my cranks and chain ring for the first time on my fixed wheel Kona Paddy Wagon. I wonder if anyone has any advice on a good, yet inexpensive set to purchase? I suppose i want 165mm crank arms and a ratio of around 44 teeth (to my rear of 16 teeth).

Here's my current set-up: a recent repair with old carnks and chain ring, the thread for pedal on the right arm of crank turned out to be very worn so my pedal simply drops out....

  • Tight clearence ;)

  • Sorry but it's just a grey one stripped and polished ):
I know the cockpits not too everyone's liking but the idea was to make it more comfy on the drops, I've still got to mess around with the fit, but the refurb was just with bits I had around and 50€ for the forks so pretty happy cost wise.
Been pretty busy messing around with mates bikes. This Gios was powder coated so was going to strip the frame and get it repainted or move everything to this other Gios frame set he's got.

  • Oh yes, groupset for Rychtarski MAX ordered and paid.

  • ..nicked some bits off another bike to get balki ready to groom the streets. apologies for crappy photo with little sign of progress. sorted the chainline and headset fitted. I cut the steerer too short for the 90s Campa headset.. tange passage to the rescue.

Will be looking out for SLR levers once account balance is recharged & perhaps sneak a crosstop in there in due time.

Bartape is due to arrive instore 1300hrs tomorrow - ordered 3 colours will decide then. #budgetsteez #cheaposlave
