Hiding from this thread as I can't watch the cycling but thought this was interesting, the points adjustment on the stages at TdF that should favour regular stage winners like Kittel and Cav more than consistently placed riders like Sagan (2012 aside).

Contador poked a bear there.

Ar-who?
-
• #3380
Apologies if already asked, but any reason in particular why Contador and the Astana riders are on mechanical instead of Di2?
-
• #3381
Weight maybe? Contador's bike:

• #3382
^ it works better with the motors.

I thought Dura Ace DI2 was the lightest group set Shimano make? It's hard to believe that the cumulative weight of the cables adds up to the weight of the battery but I guess there are also all the mechanical internals to the hoods etc?
-
• #3384
Hmm, does di2 have a cage long enough for the 32 sprocket cassettes they were running today?
-
• #3385
The 6.8kg limit means weight is not an issue.

By the way my race predictions in the last few days have been awesome.
Porte to race for stage wins!
Contador to stick on Aru's wheel and take it easy!
If anyone wants any betting tips, you know where to come. -

Some teams swapped to an Ultegra medium cage mech

Bert's media never looked so positive and even Oleg in person doesn't seem to be too bad and it's just his twitter persona that's a nightmare.
I don't know what to think anymore

Last 45km here

Just watched that. Contador was very calm. Although i bet he had a few words to say when he caught those unsporting bstds up.

Peloton giving their opinion of Katusha /Astana behaviour by pacing Berto back when they could I think? Riders on Twitter were vocal too.
-
• #3392
It does remind me of chaingate and the shlecks .
-
• #3393
Yeah that makes sense, AFAIK dura ace's cage only allows a max of 28 on the cassette?
-
• #3394
Unfortunately that's not true though.

So was Landa penalised for the late feed?
-

tbh I'm glad Sean Kelly is keeping it Craggy Island, it provides a bit of relief from the guy who insists on massively over-pronouncing every Euro name/place.
Does anyone know what happened with the Eurosport highlights show tonight? I though either it was running late or I'd got european/gmt timings mixed up but then it just seemed to start randomly with 40km to go.

The tennis over-ran so they just cut the first 30mins off I think.
Can't be unheard.
