Ambitious build for a 5 year old

Posted on
  • Well today my 5 year old had his stabilsers removed and basically nailed it first time ... Yep a very proud moment ...
I've bin looking and I wanna build a bike from scratch ( single speed of course)
I'm thinking lugs and bonding carbon tubes .
He weighs like 26kg so can't imagine that breaking.

First I need some lugs, the lug sets I'm seeing are pricey £40plus
I'm hoping some one has bits knocking about ..
And the I will go from there ...

  • I'm thinking of putting my record ti seatpost and king headset on my 5 year olds pink bike....

  • He has a cheap bike but seeing him pedals looks like his needs a harder gear ratio.
And then I'm like fcuk it lets looks at a complete build .

I have a trek oclv that's damaged I'm tempted to chop it up and use that

  • there have been some very nice custom kids bikes posted in the last 6 months can't remember for the life of me which thread
they may have been balance bikes rather than crank / pedal propelled

  • Dammit, I was still riding into hedges at 7. Good luck with the build!

  • Thanks Phil . It's madness he literally just got on it and road it ..

  • I have heard that bonding carbon to steel is very difficult/unreliable. A two part adhesive called EC-3535BA may do the job?

  • Well I'm now thinking about the oclv
