I think that I was at the lights with him this morning. Does he ride a track champion?
-
• #3528
Yeah he's a friend of a friend (I've never actually met him)
His front cable snapped, I don't think he was ever going to make that red light though so should have probably slowed down sooner.

I've met him. He's a bell end.
But, right, I know the video quality isn't the best but I can't see a brake or lever...
I've met him on his track champ and (this was a year ago) it was brakeless...
I could however be wrong and the whole brake cable breaking story could be true. -

He had a front brake this morning (the cable seemed to be intact). I also thought that he was hammering it down that road considering how fast those lights change and that it was wet. Glad he is alright anyway.

??
I'm not sure what you are asking me here.

There was someone else saying they were a friend of a friend of that guy and knew that his brake cable had snapped. I thought you were the same person.
-
• #3534
Oh okay.
I heard the front cable thing on FB when someone who knows him replied to a comment on the video.

Green/White Cinelli Mash locked up outside Sainsburys on Oxford Road this morning. Anyone on here?

^@c0gsucker behind a young skater-type riding similar down there in the autumn.
He was running it single speed!! :-O -

how? they don't have drillings for rear brakes do they? my vig doesn't.
I didn't pay much attention to this one today so not sure if it had brakes or not.

SS front brake only. Bit scary, but looked like the kind of guy who'd slowly tootle to the skatepark on it.

Just DAS'd a guy on an arrospok'd Dolan going accross Grosvenor Street/Upper Brook; no response.. :/

Two this morning.
Cinelli Mash (the rad black one with silver "cinelli" logo) bullhorns, going past footage. Guy was wearing brown/tan shorts.
Green/black Dolan Seta, restraps bibs going past Costa on Oxford Road. Rider waved at me but the sun was in my eyes so if it's someone I know then sorry I looked so confused.

You gonna come out on your fixed tonight?

Doing new hours at a new job. Don't get home until gone 6 now so just gonna chill. The 30km a day commute is enough for now haha. Have a good ride!
-
• #3545
aha I know that feeling. I haven't done any recreational riding since my commute got longer.
-
• #3546
Ah man =[ I'm hoping once I settle in I'll be able to start a little earlier and leave a little earlier and still wanna do 60km after the 30km commute. We shall see!

Moved to Bolton from Altrincham, started doing more mountainbiking. Also, train-only commute options became uncompetitive vs half-bike-half-train. Riding all the way to work is quicker in good weather than using the train for any part, but it's 25+ miles each way.
tl;dr: moved a lot further from work, started riding a lot more.

I need to get my pompino more off road compatible so I can use these off road routes in more often. I ride more now than before but it's all commuting, I usually cant be arsed heading out for a ride once I get home now.

Need to extend your commute. I find once i'm on the bike it's easier to do more miles, rather than getting home and then going out again.
Saying that I've hardly done that this year. Now that the GF has gone back to Norway for the summer though, I should be able to get some real miles in!
