  • If yr in the Australian boonies you're legally required to drive a burnt orange HSV Commodore ute

  • Anyone here driven or own a Skoda Yeti? I'm looking at the 1.8 TSI as a replacement for my old S3 (I know they aren't like for like) and heard the Yeti is a surprisingly good steer.

  • well regarded, hence high residuals

  • What rive said. Great cars.

  • Is the s3 in good nick?

  • A buddy has a yeti, he loves it.
Would love one as a runabout/winter car!

  • Not really. 120k. Rust. Dented panel from a deer / car interface on the front wing. Bought it cheap and spent a lot on fixing all the mechanical bits. Suspension and engine mounts are a bit tired now but it is fast, frugal and does look kinda cool.

It does look great when it's all polished and clean.

  • Good points

    1. Fitted a new door mirror myself so I now have a working electric mirror
    2. Looks nice
    3. Black bumper trim restorer worked nicely

    Bad points

    1. Electric window motor in the back ate itself so now my window is propped shut by a cardboard Starbucks insulator thing
    2. While fixing this roadside the front tyre went down, and the spare stays up but the tread isn't legal
    3. Cold start woes continue - probably needs new cold start valve and/or injectors
    4. All the other things that the health check at the Merc specialist showed up - rear wheel binding, brake fluid needs changing, brake hoses corroded, leaking air box, non-standard exhaust back box fitted means it hangs down a bit
    5. Fucked up my Mercedes jack by jacking incorrectly

    Fuuuuuuck

  • Evidence to support good point #2

  • i'm sorry, but i don't see what you see in that 190..

  • I went to look at and drive a bunch of newish fords (didn't really like any of them), a 2009 c class (underwhelmed by the interior), a few audis and vws. the mrs came away liking the later a-class.

i think i am going to go for the mk 6 golf gt 1.4 tsi.

    anyone had one?

  • Had the 122hp version for a very long time. Great car. Swapped for a much less exciting to drive car, but one that does everything I could ever want. It is boring as hell though and I miss the golf's handling.
If I had the choice- I'd probably go for the mk7, because I think they look better.

  • Agreed, they're a surprisingly good drive. @Cycliste hired one when we were cycling in the Dolomites a few years ago, and due to her sat nav refusing to accept the existence of Swiss motorways the route back was a bit longer than necessary, including a rather rushed drive over the Nufnenpass. The Yeti handled it surprisingly well, although even the 2.0FSI needs to have the tits revved off it to produce any power.

  • the FSI always used to stand for f%$king s#*%ty injection when I worked at Volkswagen

  • I can fix all those things for you :) Drop me a message

  • Mini Cooper D in Iced Chocolate with Black Wheels and Roof / Mirror caps...

...acceptable or have I gone completely mental?

(bearing in mind it's very cheap monthly and residual value is of no significance...)

  • Scrapyards are full of rusted out W202s and W210s from which you can pinch a new jack.

  • if you like it, whyever not..

business operating leases are very competitive at the moment

  • @>>>>>>

  • I'm looking at some fiesta connect vans for my girlfriend. Around 2010/2011 with less that 80k miles. Anything specific I should be looking out for?

  • That's awful! Guessing it's a 90 originally with a stretched wheelbase?!

  • Won't be 90's? You do wonder how Kahn has made any money. The success of naff.

  • It says 105 on the front, which isn't a standard Defender wheelbase and the wheels are set further forward in the wings than they would be on either a standard 90 or 110

  • Why no Fiesta ST?

  • Would have thought cut and shunt front end to accomodate bigger block...
