Here's what I had done during the rebuild:
NEW hand built wheels.
NEW rear cassette
NEW chainset
NEW chain
NEW brake hoods
NEW bar tape
NEW mudguards
NEW cables
NEW SPD pedals
NEW Continental Grand Prix 4 Season tyres
Upgraded shifters and front and rear derailleurs to the elegant Shimano 600 Arabesque friction series.
Upgraded saddle to and old, but lovely looking Sans Marco Rolls model.
The Vitus steel frame is nearly 40 years old, and has marks all over, but it is a great frame, and the champagne gold colour sparkles in sunlight. As for the size: I'm 5'11" with a 32" inseam, and the bike fits perfectly. I found that many vintage bikes have a very stretched out riding position, whereas this is super comfortable (almost as comfortable as my Cannondale Synapse, which is renowned for being the comfiest road bike there is).
The only reason I am selling is because I have too many bikes, and too little space!
Would make a great fixie. If it doesn't sell, that's what I'll probably do with it in the future.
Only £150 (the tyres alone are worth half that!). Collection from Tunbridge Wells. I can meet you at the mainline station if that helps?
Recently rebuilt and fully serviced.
